Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Facial in Centurion
A professional facial is one of the easiest, most rewarding ways to look after your skin — but if it's your first, a little preparation makes a big difference. Here's exactly what to expect when you visit us in Raslouw.
What actually happens during a facial
Every facial at the studio starts with a proper skin assessment — we look at your skin's condition, ask about your routine and any concerns, and then tailor the treatment to you. A typical session flows through:
- Cleanse — a thorough double cleanse to remove make-up, sunscreen and the day.
- Exfoliation — to lift away dead cells and let everything that follows work better.
- Extractions (if needed) — gentle clearing of congestion and blackheads.
- Treatment step — a mask, serum or active tailored to your skin's needs.
- Massage — to relax the face, boost circulation and help products absorb.
- Protect — moisturiser and SPF to finish.
How to prepare
- Come with clean skin if you can, and avoid heavy make-up on the day.
- Skip strong exfoliating acids or retinol for two to three days beforehand so your skin isn't over-sensitised.
- Avoid sunburn and fresh tanning right before your appointment.
- If you've had injectables or other treatments recently, let us know when you book.
Which facial is right for you?
Different facials do different jobs. As a quick guide:
- Hydrating facial — for tight, dehydrated or dull skin that needs a moisture boost.
- Deep-cleansing facial — for oily, congested or breakout-prone skin.
- Anti-ageing facial — to firm, smooth and brighten more mature skin.
- Chemical peel — a more targeted resurfacing treatment for texture, pigmentation and clarity (often done as a short course).
Nyasha's approach — and the products we use
With over 20 years of experience, the philosophy is simple: treat the skin in front of you, not a one-size-fits-all template. We work with professional ranges like Nimue and Nanoskin — clinically led products you won't find on the high street — chosen to match your skin type and goals. You'll always leave knowing exactly what was used and how to care for your skin at home.
After your facial
Your skin may look a little flushed for an hour or two — that's normal and settles quickly. For the next day or so, keep things simple: gentle products, plenty of SPF, and skip the gym, sauna and hot showers if you've had extractions or a peel.
